PCF Annual Boutique![]() On Wednesday, November 4, Pediatric Cancer Foundation hosted its annual shop for a cure boutique at Ridgeway Country Club in White Plains. Sales were over $80,000 with a percentage of the funds donated to help cure pediatric cancer. Over 50 vendors participated and sold an assortment of jewelry, home accessories, stationery, cashmere clothing, sweaters, clogs, children’s articles, 'green' products and a variety of trendy, wearable pocketbooks, furs and evening bags. There were also vendors with seasonable chocolates and delicious combinations of nutbutters. This year, recognizing the high price of gold, shoppers were able to sell their gold jewelry for immediate cash to help meet their holiday shopping needs. Lunch was prepared by the chef at Ridgeway CC and sold to hungry shoppers. Proceeds from this event support children with cancer. Stefanie Mittman, President of Pediatric Cancer Foundation expressed great appreciation to Boutique Chairs: Judith Elkins, Devra Bader, Pam Bieber, Ellen Berger, Maxine Elkins and Louise Oshatz, for producing this successful event in its 10th year. A special thank you to Natalie Sambamburty for coordinating the cashiers corner...a very intense effort. “Although this boutique takes place on one day it takes an entire year to coordinate every last detail. Thank you all committee members, Boutique guests, vendors and Ridgeway Country Club for helping Pediatric Cancer Foundation to…hold the hand of a child” commented Stefanie. Pediatric Cancer Foundation funds research and state of the art equipment at Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, The Hassenfeld Children's Center at NYU Medical Center, Steven and Alexandra Cohen Medical Center of New York and Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center. Cancer does not discriminate. It can strike anyone at anytime. Unhappily, there is little federal money available for pediatric cancer research. No child should have to suffer the pain and no family should have to suffer the heartbreak and distress of seeing their child with pediatric cancer. |
