PCF 2010 Annual Journal
Dear Friends,
Cancer is the number one cause of non-accidental death in children. Every year, more than 12,000 infants and children are diagnosed with the disease. Their lives are a constant struggle for survival. Cancer does not play favorites; it does not discriminate. It can strike anyone at any time.
The mission of Pediatric Cancer Foundation is to find a cure for childhood cancer. Founded in 1970, this non-profit charity supports the work of five area hospitals—Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian, The Hassenfeld Children’s Center at NYU Medical Center, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Steven and Alexandra Cohen Medical Center of New York, and Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center—by raising
money for research, treatment, state-of-the-art equipment, and patient care. Pediatric Cancer Foundation is independently funded, relying on the generosity of loyal supporters like you. Our charity receives no aid from the federal government. PCF prides itself on maintaining minimal overhead, enabling the majority of your dollars to fund the programs we support. Today’s economic climate has spared no one, yet despite remarkable progress,
childhood cancer sadly spares very few.
It is with pride that we present you with the opportunity to contribute to Pediatric Cancer Foundation’s 40th Annual Journal. Our Annual Journal has always been a substantial and lasting venue—a tangible way to express your support for PCF. Please take a moment to place an ad in honor or memory of a loved one, to raise awareness of your local business, or simply to show your support.
We are certain that with your help, we can make a difference in the lives of children with cancer and bring us all one step closer to a cure. As Pediatric Cancer Foundation depends solely on the generosity of you, our Friends, to help eradicate this devastating disease, we are deeply grateful for your continuing support.
Thank you for joining us in our mission to ...hold the hand of a child.
Sincerely,
The Journal Committee
Stefanie Mittman, Pam Bieber, Caren Suesserman, Terry Z. Feldman
