PEDIATRIC CANCER FOUNDATION THANKED

The generosity of the Pediatric Cancer Foundation was recognized at Columbia Presbyterian (now known as Children's Hospital of New York) on April 4, when Pediatrics staff expressed their gratitude through the unveiling of a plaque and a reception for Foundation members in the Faculty Club. Since 1976 the Foundation has contributed a total of $2.4 million to the Pediatric Oncology Department. Its members have pledged an additional $500,000 contribution.
A young man in Scarsdale, NY offered to bike miles as a special charity project for his Temple. He gave the proceeds from his 14-mile ride to PCF. "As part of my becoming a Bar Mitzvah, I will be performing a 'mitzvah' project," the boy said. "I have chosen to organize a Bikeathon for Pediatric Cancer Foundation because I had two family members who were diagnosed with leukemia when they were both only 13 years old." The enthusiasm he created was so exciting we decided to have our second annual Bikeathon on the Bronx River Parkway on June 2, 2002.

ROSWELL, the hit show that was officially picked up by the UPN, dedicated their December holiday special to PCF. We had overwhelming response from the Roswell fans who sent money,
toys, letters and created their own satellite events across the country. We even received a cash gift of $4 from a Roswell fan in Brazil! Many thanks to the loyal Roswell supporters for holding the hand of a child.
Compassionate fans felt compelled along with corporate sponsors to send a child
with cancer to visit the Roswell set and meet the actors. Thanks to the Roswell trip's corporate sponsors, who include Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Marriott, Merrill Lynch, and Warner Brothers.
26,000 fan club members want to organize a thank-you to the UPN for picking up the show. A campaign is running on the website crashdown.com asking people to call in donations, send checks, and participate in the PCF toy drive, in thanks to the UPN. The campaign officially runs until June 7 and unofficially until the end of August. To date this campaign has raised over $16,400!
E-mail us if you would like to learn how to become a Roswell PCF supporter.
